Reading, for me, is entertainment and an escape from the real world. But it can also inform and stretch the boundaries of the life I live.
It had an intriguing premise and started off with a bang (ha ha) where the character introduced in every chapter was drowned, exploded, or burned to death. Unfortunately, by the end of the book a ridiculous romance had developed between main characters that sucked most of the joy out of reading horror fiction.
Still, I regard this book mostly with affection. I read the paperback mostly on the weekends this summer, while in my floating chair at the lake, and its swollen and wrinkled pages will always remind me of hot sun and cool water and good friends.
