Portable Magic

Reading, for me, is entertainment and an escape from the real world. But it can also inform and stretch the boundaries of the life I live.

Questions children ask, (Child horizons)

Questions Children Ask, - Edith Bonhivert, Muriel Stanek, Ernest Bonhivert, Helen Endres I've had this book since I was very small and read it cover-to-cover. I remember the illustrations best - the Stomache Ache: little men with shovels and pickaxes inside a stomache trying to "digest" giant chunks of food because you didn't chew your food well; Fire safety: a little girl with pigtails and her skirt on fire running, then being rolled in a rug by a little boy; comparative sizes of man, elephant, and blue whale; illustrations of wind flowing around a plane to demonstrate how the various parts on the wings and tail help it to fly.
