Penrod - Booth Tarkington, Asa Don Dickinson Found it on my grandmother's shelves one endless summer visit and fell in love with that rascal Penrod and his crazy adventures. Though I could never quite figure out what the attraction of chewing tar would be. He seemed much like Ramona the Pest, only as a boy living in an ancient and mythical world of long-ago. Which 1910's America certainly seemed to me in the thoroughly modern 1970's.
