Portable Magic

Reading, for me, is entertainment and an escape from the real world. But it can also inform and stretch the boundaries of the life I live.

The Shelters of Stone (Earth's Children, #5) - Jean M. Auel I was terribly disappointed in this book. I had loved the earlier Earth's Children novels dearly and had eagerly anticipated hearing what happened to Ayla and Jondalar when they reached his home. Perhaps it's only that I was only a teenager when I read the first several books, and nearly 40 when I read this one, so that I'm approaching the main characters and their drama from a different perspective and with an adult's experiences and taste. In any case, I couldn't even work up an interest in the final book just released last year.
