Reading, for me, is entertainment and an escape from the real world. But it can also inform and stretch the boundaries of the life I live.
So far, I've finished Mowgli's story, which doesn't seem to resemble my memories of the Disney movie, and the The White Seal, which was a weird little story, and Rikki Tikki Tavi, which was just as charming as I remember from my childhood picture books. Adorably fierce little Rikki, with his bushed out tail facing down Nag and Nagina (hmm, that snake name!).
I'm stuck at the elephant story, which I can't seem to work up an interest in.
This is the second time I've tried simultaneously reading along while listening to the audio, which I loved doing as a child with my little read-and-play records. Definitely not the same as an adult. I read much faster than the narrator, and there aren't any pictures to look at while I wait for the narrator to catch up. So I've been alternating between ebook and audio, depending on whatever I'm doing at the time.
