Night Film - Marisha Pessl

This has been on my shelf for a while, and I've really been looking forward to reading it. My feelings so far have been all over the place:

First two paragraphs: Oh hell yeah this is going to be good!

Next several pages: Oh. Hm. The prose is getting a little... turgid. Hopefully because it's the MC's POV and that's his own writing style?

First full chapter: An unusual way to give the backstory. I like it! Scribbling down clues so I can keep track. But what happened? What happened? I WANT TO KNOW RIGHT NOW DAMMIT.

This most definitely will NOT be a DNF.
