Reading, for me, is entertainment and an escape from the real world. But it can also inform and stretch the boundaries of the life I live.
Another book from the neglected pile of dusty paperbacks.
Vietnamese born writer of mystery novels with mommy issues finds a mystery doll on his front porch. Threatening messages appear on his computer, doll comes to life, is evil. This should have been interesting. A scene where a guy tries to hunt down the evil creature and kill it should have been exciting. It took sixteen pages for the protag to search a single room and have a brief skirmish with it. When I found myself skimming the text and looking ahead to see when it would move on to something else, I decided to DNF and start on a new book that would hopefully be entertaining.
DNF at page 71.
